East Midlands Specialist Operations Unit (EMSOU) is one of the largest and most exciting collaborative units in the country, bringing together over 1,000 staff across five East Midlands police forces: Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, and Nottinghamshire. Shortlisted for a World Class Policing award, EMSOU offers a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. Counter Terrorism Policing

We protect the East Midlands from terrorism and extremism through intelligence gathering, investigation, and providing security advice for critical sites. We're also part of the national Counter Terrorism Policing Network.

Regional Organised Crime Unit

Focused on tackling serious and organised crime, our team uses covert tactics, digital forensics, and asset recovery to investigate issues like human trafficking, cybercrime, drug and firearms trafficking, and money laundering.

Major Crime Team

Investigating serious crimes like murder and manslaughter, this team handles high-profile cases that often grab media attention.

Forensic Services

Our forensic experts investigate crime scenes and handle critical evidence, playing a key role in solving cases and supporting investigations.

Legal Services

Supporting all five forces, this team covers everything from employment law and inquests to civil litigation and commercial law.

Regional Review Unit

This team reviews serious and major crime cases, identifying new opportunities to solve “cold” cases and uncover new leads.
