Opportunities for all

We’re proud to employ some of the very most talented and dedicated people in Leicestershire and beyond. They’re central to our success. So, we’ve created a recruitment process that’s as objective and inclusive as possible, to give everyone a world-class recruitment experience, and to ensure we appoint the best person for each job.

Leicestershire is a richly diverse and multicultural county, so we need to be diverse and multicultural too. That’s why we’re working hard to build an inclusive workforce, where you can be yourself, whoever you are and wherever you’re from. So, we’re always happy to hear from talented people who can bring diverse skills and experiences to our organisation.

If you’d like to know more about our wide range of opportunities across the force, or anything else, please get in touch before applying or during the recruitment process.

Everyone Belongs at Leicestershire Police

At Leicestershire Police, we believe that our strength lies in our people. We’re proud of the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives that make up our team. Inclusion isn’t just a buzzword here - it’s part of how we work, grow, and succeed together. We’re committed to making our recruitment process as supportive and accessible as possible. If you need any reasonable adjustments at any stage, just let us know once you’ve submitted your application - we’re here to help.

Let’s work together
We want every new team member to feel welcomed, supported, and ready to thrive. So please, be open with us about any adjustments you might need - we’re here to help you succeed.

Need Adjustments? We’ve Got You Covered

Whether it’s extra time during interviews or other support, we’ll work with you to understand what you need. Everyone’s different, so we tailor adjustments to suit each individual. For the College of Policing assessments (like the National Sift and Online Assessment Centre), adjustments such as extra time or having the content read aloud are often available. These assessments are constantly being improved to better support candidates. To arrange adjustments, we’ll need a report - like an SpLD or advisory report - to make sure everything’s in place.

Moving Forward: Medical Assessments & Support

If you’re successful in your application, you’ll go through pre-employment checks, including a medical assessment. This is where we can look at any additional support you might need - especially if you have a disability or neurodivergent condition (like dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, or ADHD). We want to make sure you’re set up for success from day one.

Sometimes adjustments are simple - like a specific chair, an extra screen, or assistive software. Other times, they might be more complex and depend on the role. That’s where our ‘Fit to Proceed’ panel comes in.

This panel reviews medical advice and helps decide whether the suggested adjustments can be reasonably made for the role. It’s not a medical panel, but a group of experienced professionals who want to make sure we’re doing the right thing for you and the role.

The panel includes: Head of Recruitment, Senior HR Business Partner, Occupational Health Lead, Training Sergeant, Chief Inspector and Superintendent. Their goal is to support you while ensuring the role requirements are met.

A note on using Artificial Intelligence in your application

While Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools can be helpful, we value your unique voice and personal input. So we encourage you to use your own words and ideas in your application. After all, that’s what sets you apart. If we detect AI-generated content, it may result in your application being rejected, so please keep it authentic!
