Annual leave
All ranks below Superintendent are entitled to at least 24 days’ of holiday. This allowance will increase based on grade, length of service and contracted hours up to a maximum of 32 days.
Flexible working
We’re committed to considering flexible working requests. While the core functions of policing must always come first, we’ll aim to accommodate all reasonable requests.
Hybrid working
Split your time between police workplaces, other suitable locations, and home. Your arrangement will be decided by your manager, based on your job and individual needs.
Police Pension Scheme 2015
For Police Officers only. A Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) scheme, meaning you’ll earn a portion of your pensionable earnings each year, which increases over time until you retire. Leicestershire Police will also contributes significantly to your pension.
Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
For Police Staff only. A defined benefit plan based on your salary and how long you contribute. Leicestershire Police will cover the majority of costs, typically paying two-thirds, while you pay one-third.
Blue Light Card
Emergency services workers can discount card offering discounts on hotels, restaurants, and more.
Cycle to Work
Save on bikes and accessories through the Cycle to Work scheme, available twice a year.
Eyesight vouchers
Officers and PCSOs get free eye tests and glasses with safety lenses. Police staff get a VDU test and glasses with safety lenses.

Your induction will be tailored to the role you take on. You’ll receive full support through the induction from your line manager to ensure you have everything you need to perform effectively in your new job. From day one, you’ll have all the support you need to ensure you feel welcomed and valued as a member of your new team. You’ll be introduced to key team members, get to know and understand force policies, and start to receive the guidance and any training you need to make the transition into your new role as smooth as possible. It’s all designed to help you settle in and boost your confidence in those first few weeks.
Your induction is only the first step in your on-going development as a member of the force. We’re dedicated to giving all our staff and officers a wide range of opportunities for continuous training and development. From College of Policing online events to workshops run by Team Leicestershire Academy, you’ll find specialised courses, annual refreshers on key topics, and a variety of other development possibilities to ensure you have all the tools you need to succeed and grow in your career.
