At Leicestershire Police we serve Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland 24/7, 365 days a year. We’re proud to serve a diverse range of communities, each with unique policing needs. We’ve worked hard to bring policing closer to local communities, with nine neighbourhood policing areas, each led by an inspector ensuring round-the-clock service.
Instead of just reacting to crime, we focus on proactive operations targeting criminals, often in partnership with local residents and other agencies. Through strong, ongoing partnerships with communities and organisations, we’re working together to fight crime, provide support for victims of crime and improve life for everyone.
Leicestershire Police is made up of 2,108 Police Officers and 1,750 Police Staff. And we cover over 2,500 square kilometres and protect a population of more than one million.

Leicestershire Police has introduced a new public pledge to show our commitment to serving the people of Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. It clearly outlines what we do as an emergency service and highlights where we’re focused on improving and raising our standards. The Pledge was created by our officers and staff, with valuable input from the communities we serve. Working day and night to carry out our duty and service, we will:
Answer emergency calls by telephone and a non-emergency service 24/7 365.
Prioritise emergencies and direct you to an appropriate agency if it is not the police.
Have a customer service desk in each local policing area.
Be visible and active, with regular updates available about policing activity in your area.
Work with communities and partners to fix local problems to prevent and detect crime.
Offer support to victims in all cases and share crime prevention advice.
Protect you from harm and pursue reasonable lines of enquiry to catch criminals.
Update you about your crime with a minimum of contact every 28 days.
Treat you with respect and courtesy and act with integrity.
Innovate and invest in our people and technology to press for high standards always.
The ethical policing principles are a series of statements that guide our people to do the right things in policing, in the right way, for the right reasons.
